Let's face it. Congress is at war with the President over this issue. Mr. Bush swears to veto the bill indicating a change in the policy of the Iraq War. The Democrats in the Senate and the Congress continue to fight for trying to bring the troops home from what seems to be an unwinnable war.
Add the drama of building a "Berlin Wall"-like fence in parts of Baghdad and what you get is a virtual stew of problems that have been stemming from the earliest days of conflict.
In light of this, should we bring our troops home?

I love Boston Legal very much. And I agree, it is a very good clip. I think that James Spader alluded to the "Good German" syndrome in which people stand by and watch the wrongdoings go down without speaking up. Although I think that there are some groups out there that are trying to protest the war and demanding that the troops come home, it seems that the President and his colleages are very stubborn because they are trying to save face here. The frustrating thing is the fact that aren't more Americans that have the courage to speak out. And when we do, we get shouted down by the "Bush supporters" who solely want to believe everything that the President says. It is a sad thing when people stand by and let this all happen. It is even more terrible that others would attack the ones who work to make the American government accountable for their actions. Although I am very saddened by the deaths at VT, my question is why won't people feel the same way about our soldiers who have died? That means, including the nine that were killed last night as well as the 20 injured? And why won't they feel anything when the Iraqis are part of the casualties? That's what I mean that there is a lack of empathy in American society.

It brings to mind some lyrics from Dave Matthews Band Everybody wake up If you're living with your eyes closed See the man with the bomb in his hand Everybody wake up
Oh baby it's not easy sometimes They build these walls ever higher and hide behind them Seems an odd way to try to make things right Oh I feel like I'm crazy sometimes
Our finest hour arrives See the pig dressed in his finest fine The believers stand behind him and smile
Everybody wake up If you're living with your eyes closed See the man with the bomb in his hand Everybody wake up
Oh remember the words of the misguided fool 'Do unto others as you'd have them do Not an eye for an eye as the golden rule Just leaves a room full of blind men'
Our finest hour arrives See the pig dressed in his finest fine The believers stand behind him and smile As the day lights up with fire
Everybody wake up Everybody wake up Everybody wake up Everybody wake up (wake up)
Everybody wake up If you're living with your eyes closed See the man with the bomb in his hand Everybody wake up (wake up soon, wake up soon)
[repeat to fade] Everybody wake up If you're living with your eyes closed See the man with the bomb in his hand Everybody wake up

Powerful lyrics. I've got to listen to this song. All I can say is that people need to wake up here. At the November elections of 2006, the American citizens took their first step by voting in order to challenge the platform that has been running the United States in the past. Now, they just have to take the next step and do what Mr. Kucinich and other representatives are doing: to hold the government accountable and have them face their conscience. Something has to give. And even Mr. Bush and his cronies have to realize that the extended tours of duty are intolerable--especially for some of the soldiers who have to go back two, even three times. And after what had happened at the Walter Reed Hospital, it seems to me that the only thing they care about is profits, not people. And the hearing concerning Pat Tillman today proves it.
