One of the other interesting theories about the society of the United States is that we are one that gratutiously loves anything violent. What I wonder from the rest of you is whether this theory is true. Is America hooked on violence? Are we less offended by anything violent? What are the elements that make up this violent culture, if you think it is so?
What are your thoughts?

Yes, we are an extremely violent society. I would say that we are, in fact, the most violent culture of any in the civilized world.
Just look at statistics (per capita statistics, naturally. As we are by far the largest population of the Western world) and it will reveal amazing insights. Most notably, we are very gun violent.
And, American television and film is easily the most violent entertainment in the world. I would consider myself something of a film expert, and out of the thousands of movies I have seen from many different nations... we are the worst.
That said, France has some pretty violent counter-cultures. At least that is the way it is portrayed in film.
